Description

Microgreens – Mild Mix contains broccoli, kohlrabi, red cabbage, kale, leaf radish ‘Sangria’, cabbage ‘January King’.

Microgreens are very easy to grow. They can be grown in a garden bed, in containers, or inside on a sunny windowsill.  If grown in a bed, loosen the soil and rake it smooth and level, then scatter the seeds (broadcast) about 0.5cm apart.  Then rake it over again.

However, the best method is to sow seeds in shallow trays or other containers. You’ll need a minimum of 5cm depth of seed compost.  Scatter seeds into trays and cover with 0.5cm compost.

Harvest when seedlings are 3-6cm tall.

Sowing:

Indoors: sow at regular intervals all year round

Outdoors: sow from April to September

Approx. seed count: 5g

Growing Microgreens – Mild Mix

Microgreens include a variety of edible immature greens, harvested with scissors less than a month after germination, when the plants are up to 2 inches tall. The stem, cotyledons (or seed leaves) and first set of true leaves are all edible. They will be ready to harvest about two to three weeks after planting. Look for the first set of “true leaves” as a sign of readiness. Snip the greens just above the soil line.

Fine dining chefs use microgreens to enhance the beauty, taste and freshness of their dishes with their delicate textures and distinctive flavors. Microgreens are smaller than “baby leaf salads” and harvested later than sprouting seeds. Microgreens can provide a variety of leaf flavors, such as sweet and spicy. They are also known for their various colors and textures. They are considered a specialty genre of greens that are good for garnishing salads, soups, plates, and sandwiches.
