Oca – Red
€6.50
Description
Oca is still my favourite “Inca Crop”. Just like the potato, it is so well suited to Irish growing conditions and it doesn’t even get blight. On arrival, store the tubers in a pot of damp sand in a cold but frost free shed.
Planting:
Plant tubers in mid March in 9cm pots (greenhouse) and plant outdoors in mid April.
Spacing:
Between plants: 35cm
Between rows: 50cm
The tubers can be harvested from late November until early January – either dug up fresh as required or stored in sand/soil mixture.
Tubers can be planted (just like potatoes) in April and harvested only a couple of weeks after the frost has killed off the leaves. That’s very important because if you harvest earlier there will only be tiny tubers.
Packet of 4 tubers
Category: M to P
